The joke with radio engineers about the glass being half full or half empty is that the glass is merely twice as large as it needs to be.  Do you view the glass as half full? If so, you're not the only one. A new study concludes that human beings all have a tendency to look on the bright side of life.Scientists from the U.S. and Australia studied the 100,000 most-commonly used words in the world's ten most-spoken languages. They found that across all cultures people are more likely to use positive words than negative ones.

The languages studied were: English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Indonesian, Chinese, Korean and Russian.

Overall Spanish and Portuguese people used the happiest language, while (surprise surprise) the Chinese, Korean and Russians used the saddest language.

The findings demonstrate that the effect psychologists call "
