Richard Sherman Lifts NFC Championship Trophy

The Seahawks’ All-Pro cornerback told CNN that he doesn’t regret anything he said following Sunday’s NFC Championship victory over San Francisco, but is very surprised by the racial reaction.

Sherman said that he was sorry about the “storm” that has occurred in the last couple of days, and that it was wrong to personally attack another person, meaning 49ers’ wideout Michael Crabtree.

By way of explanation, he notes that he and Crabtree have a history. Sherman says he also has to turn on a switch inside himself to become an “angry human being” to play the game. That switch, he said, was still on during his now-infamous interview with Erin Andrews.

But he wasn’t ready for how race became involved in the reaction afterward. He said he found it sad, especially because it came just before and on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
