As I have gotten older I have been more aware of the concept of “happiness”. As a result, studies like this catch my eye . So here’s another log on the philosophical fire of happiness.

Being happy is an ongoing process, and I have come to believe it’s an outgrowth of expectation. However, a new study suggests there are three main things that are likely to present and preserve happiness. Australian researchers have dubbed strong personal relationships, financial control and a sense of purpose as the "golden triangle of happiness."

Study leader Robert Cummins tells The Huffington Post the most important thing a person can do for happiness is maintain good relationships. The size of your wallet isn’t as important to happiness provided their relationships and purpose in life are strong.

But that’s not to say some ready cash can’t contribute. The researchers found among people who earn less than $100,000 per year, increased income comes with a dramatic increase in well-being.

Interestingly, those who make more than $100,000 a year feel less in control financially.

As far as a sense of purpose, researchers say volunteer work, a hobby, or a job can all impact well-being by giving your life meaning, though if it's your job it has to provide more than just financial security.
