Time to give your dentist a little more respect and maybe even a word of thanks on behalf of your overall health and not just your teeth.  Science says new research suggests that going to the dentist can stop you from getting pneumonia.

Scientists say that having healthy teeth and gums reduces the bad bacteria in the mouth that causes the lung infection. People who do not visit a dentist are 87% more at risk of pneumonia than those who go for regular cleanings.

Researchers from Virginia Commonwealth University say there is a well documented connection between oral health and pneumonia, and while can never rid the mouth of bacteria altogether, good oral hygiene can limit the quantities of bacteria present. (DailyMail)
