Look around Yakima and seek out some distinguished heads of gray hair. Who do you see? Salesman extraordinaire Ron King? Former Chamber President Mike Morrisette? Planned Parenthood past director Gwen Chaplain or a certain unnamed radio host? Some people own the grey and silver look. Some of us- not so much, but either way, science now thinks they know the genetic link to gray hair.

U.S. News & World Report says the gray hair gene was isolated after studying the genetics of more than six-thousand people of mixed ancestry in Latin America.

Researchers call it I-R-F-4 and in addition to adding the gray it also influence hair shape and density. So now I have two more reasons to hate it!

Without getting too deep into the science, the gene “regulates the production and storage of the pigment melanin, which is known to cause hair graying. Study leader Professor Andres Ruiz-Linares says the results could ultimately lead to a greater understanding of the aspects of the biology of human aging."

Sorry Lady Clairol, but one conclusion from the study is that one day drugs may be invented that will wipe out grey hair entirely. (Express.co.uk)
