While the entire country is talking about Ebola the Yakima County Health District is warning of another sickness that you can prevent. The flu. Community Health Supervisor Diane Bock says now is the time to get that flu shot to help protect yourself and others. "You may carry the germ, the virus to somebody who's more vulnerable. You may not get really sick yourself but you may carry it to someone who's more vulnerable. A young person or an older person." The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone six
months of age and older. Bock says it's especially
important for those high risk groups that are more vulnerable...young children, older people, pregnant women, and people with certain medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, lung diseases, heart diseases, and neurologic conditions. The shots are available at pharmacies, drug and grocery stores all around the Yakima Valley.
