Now I have to track one down.  We’re talking flu shots here and every year I get a flu shot at the fair but I missed getting it this year and every indication is that I’m going to need it! If our mates in Australia are any indication, it could be a bad year. Remember their summer is our w

inter and so far the land down under has been under the influence of the flu! More than 59,800 cases of flu have been confirmed for 2014, compared to about 18,000 in 2013. While there are no guarantees the United States will mirror these results, past flu outbreaks in Australia have been a good indicator of what we can expect here

 The influenza vaccine is recommended for everyone age 6 months and older, unless your physician has diagnosed a health condition that may preclude it or you are allergic to an ingredient in the vaccine. Egg-free vaccines are available for people who are severely allergic to egg products. Ask your doctor if you have any concerns about whether the vaccine is appropriate for you.

Ideally, you should be vaccinated at the start of the flu season in October to maximize your protection. However, it’s better to be vaccinated late than never. Our flu season usually peaks between December and January
