Home to one of the world’s most famous forecasters...I speak of course of Punxsutawney Phil the groovy groundhog who has been checking for his shadow every February 2nd since 1886. The way it works is this...IF it’s a sunny day, Phil sees his shadow and is frightened into running back into his hole. The result of that is six more weeks of winter weather. Hmmmm... frightened by his shadow? Who knew Phil was a democrat...kidding...he’s an independent, but I digress... According to the Groundhog Club's Inner Circle, Phil’s forecast has a familiar ring to it given that the woodchuck has chucked the sunshine and scampered back inside 99 times in the past 125 years....which reminds me of a joke....A proud Republican pops asked his son what the State of The Union speech was about. The youngster’s response… If President Obama comes out of the White House and sees his shadow then there will be 6 more weeks of unemployment. The kid then endorsed Newt…I mean Mitt…no Newt…or is it Mitt….
