Shouldn’t all the hassles have ended in 1848?  Today’s “get tough talk” on Mexico, the wall, deportation, sanctuary cities, gangs, cartels, La Raza , doing the work Americans won’t do, the dreamers, amnesty and MORE, all the way to charges of racism by members of the Yakima City Council.

It’s all connected and who saw all that coming on this day, February 2, 1848?  That’s the anniversary of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, ending the Mexican-American War.

As a result of that, the U.S. was given part of the present-day Southwest, including Texas, New Mexico and California, in exchange for $15 million which is worth approximately  445 million in today’s dollars.
