While the 4th of July is over fireworks are still a problem for Yakima firefighters. Yakima Fire Department Shift Commander Jennifer Norton says "we started seeing them about a week ago and they'll continue for the next several days." Fireworks are illegal in the city of Yakima but Norton says plenty of people still lit fireworks and kept Yakima Police busy on the 4th. She says the good news is that none of the illegal fireworks caused any big fires the bad news is that the same fireworks concern continues in the city of Yakima for about the next several days. She says firefighters responded to 2 fires on the 4th of July. One brush fire started by fireworks and another house fire that remains under investigation. And she says they helped firefighters with a brush fire in Moxee.
She's hoping it's quiet for the next week.
