There was so much good food and great music at Saturday's Bite of Yakima at the Yakima Arboretum. What a great time! But lost between barbecue and ice-cold brew was a kids play area that sure was a hit with the little ones.

Antlers, animal skulls, dirt to dig in, wooden jewelry-making and more made for a lot of inexpensive fun.

For my 5-year-old Kate (Gator), the highlight was the face-painting -- and this moment of recognition that everything was just right! Plan to grab the kids and join us next summer for the third annual event, which will be bigger and better than ever!
