Wednesday Morning on The Morning News we talked about a newspaper article discussing a somewhat negative

reaction by some military vets when civilians say “thanks for your service.”  It generated a few call but we were too short on time to take it further.  Still. It’s a very interesting and I think important conversation to have.

A quote for the article in the NYTimes:   “Mr. Garth, 26, said that when he gets thanked it can feel self-serving for the thankers, suggesting that he did it for them, and that they somehow understand the sacrifice, night terrors, feelings of loss and bewilderment. Or don’t think about it at all.    “I pulled the trigger,” he said. “You didn’t. Don’t take that away from me.”

Obviously not all vets feel that way but it’s something to consider and perhaps to speak about with you again.

Sincerely, to ALL our volunteer military personnel. THANKS for your service!
