Although they may not be as big as the Emmys, the Television Critics Association awards are generally a better display of good taste and are a great way to discover what you should be watching. After all, the Emmys will tell you that ‘Two and a Half Men’ is the best comedy on TV, but the TCAs know that ‘Louie‘ is actually the best comedy airing at the moment. After winning the Outstanding New Program award last year, HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones‘ stepped up and took home the biggest trophy of the evening: Program of the Year. Outstanding Achievement in Comedy went to FX’s ‘Louie’ and Outstanding Achievement in Drama went to AMC’s ‘Breaking Bad.’ ‘Homeland‘ was this year’s Outstanding New Program.

Meanwhile, ‘Louie’ star/writer/director Louis CK won Individual Achievement in Comedy and ‘Homeland’ star Claire Danes won Individual Achievement in Drama, making those two the only shows to take home more than one award at the ceremony. David Letterman was honored with the Career Achievement Award the classic sitcom ‘Cheers’ was given the Heritage Award.

The non-televised ceremony was hosted by ‘Breaking Bad’ star Bryan Cranston and was held in the Beverly Hilton ballroom, normally home to the Golden Globe awards. A full list of winners is below:

·     Outstanding Achievement in Drama: “Breaking Bad” (AMC)

·     Outstanding Achievement in Comedy: “Louie” (FX)

·     Career Achievement Award: David Letterman

·     Heritage Award: “Cheers”

·     Program of the Year: “Game of Thrones” (HBO)
