Yakima Police say three teenage boys are in custody after kidnapping a 15-year-old girl at gunpoint early Monday morning from the West Valley area.

Capt. Rod Light says the three teenagers forced the girl into the trunk of a car at 64th Avenue and Terry Avenue around 8:00 a.m. Then Light says, “they proceeded west out to the Cowiche Highland area. Two suspects got out of the car there. The driver and the abducted female continued up to the area of Bumping Lake around Highway 410.”

Light says the girl used her cell phone and was able to see out of the trunk to tell authorities where she was. As a result authorities say troopers from the state patrol stopped the car on the highway at Bumping Lake and found the girl unharmed and took the driver into custody.

Light says it seems the abduction is the result of a dispute between the suspect and the victim who were once boyfriend and girlfriend. All three teen suspects face charges in juvenile court.
