A 15 year old Yakima girl who says she ripped up the floor of her bathroom to escape after being held there for the past 2 days is now in protective custody. The teen told police her mother and stepfather refused to let her out of the bathroom for the past 2 days. Police say she managed to break out of the bathroom by tearing up a section of flooring and crawling underneath the house to safety. She walked several blocks to her grandmother’s house where police were called. While police were at the grandmother’s home talking with the victim, the victim’s mother and stepfather arrived. Police detained and questioned the mother and stepfather about the alleged incident and following the preliminary investigation, the mother and stepfather were booked into the yakima county jail on charges of unlawful imprisonment. They're being held in the county jail today. The 15 year old is now at an undisclosed location for her protection.
