A teenager who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in a Yakima gang shooting was supposed to be sentenced Tuesday, but he is asking to withdraw his plea instead.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports 16-year-old Daniel Perez faced 16 to 25 years in prison. Now a judge is expected to hold a hearing to decide whether he can withdraw his plea.

Authorities say he shot 26-year-old Octavio Rangel in October 2012 outside the Yakima Transit Center.
