The Yakima City Council voted down a proposal on Tuesday that would have required a super-majority to raise taxes in the city of Yakima. However, City Councilman Bill Lover says it could be back in front of the council later this year. Lover, who backs the proposal says he has heard from some Yakima residents interested in bringing it back through a petition. Any council members who voted against the original proposal could also bring it back for future consideration. Lover says he supports the idea of making it tough for the council to raise taxes. He says he is optimistic that someone or some group will bring the issue back sometime soon. He says he'd like to see the issue on an April ballot.
