The official tree lighting ceremony will be held on Sunday, December 8, after the Downtown Yakima’s annual Holiday Lighted Parade. The parade starts at 6:00 p.m.

The plan is for the Yakima Police Department command staff to have a "Boots on the Ground" outreach every month.

Week 5 of the weekly Downtown Summer Nights concert series in Yakima on historic North Front Street, continues tonight with live music from both coasts.

Staging starts at 8:00 a.m. on Sixth Avenue. As a result Sixth Avenue will be closed from Yakima Avenue to Walnut Street early Saturday morning.

Hot Shot’s divisions run from 1st grade through high school for boys and girls. Adult divisions include men’s open, men’s 6-foot-and-under, women’s open, coed and family.

The star of the parade however was Santa Clause who helped turn on the lights on the community Christmas tree in the Millennium Plaza after the parade.
