Yakima Fire Department investigators are checking out a suspicious fire that burned a Yakima home early Monday morning. Fire crews were called to the fire in the 1600 block of Cornell Avenue at about 4:30 a.m. Fire crews found a blaze in the homes basement that spread throughout the home before it was doused by firefighters. The family says they were awakened by noise in the house and found smoke and fire coming from the basement. 3 people escaped the fire. no injuries were reported. The fire remains under investigation.
