A male and a female suspect jumped off a bridge into the Yakima river Wednesday after a police chase. The two suspects had drawn a gun on several people at a BBQ and then fled the scene. Toppenish officers located the vehicle belonging to the suspects and attempted to stop them.

The man and woman came to a halt on a bridge on North Meyers Road, then jumped off the bridge and began swimming downstream. Officers were able to apprehend the suspects about a half mile from the bridge. Neither suspect was injured from the jump, but both are now facing charges. The 35-year-old Buena man is potentially facing charges for attempting to elude police, threats to kill, harassment and unlawful possession of a firearm. The 24-year-old Toppenish woman is facing charges for threats of domestic violence.
