A 20-year-old woman is being held in the Yakima County Jail this morning on a second degree murder charge after a body of a Sunnyside man was found in the trunk of a car Friday afternoon south of Toppenish.

Yakima County Sheriff's officials say the woman was arrested Saturday night after phone records showed her as a suspect in the death of 23-year-old Alberto Gabriel Martinez.

His body was found in the trunk of a 1998 Honda Civic. The car belongs to his girlfriend.

Sheriff's officials aren't saying whether the girlfriend is the same woman arrested on Saturday. The car was first located on Oak Springs Road off US Highway 97 by Yakima Nation Tribal Police who contacted the sheriff's office.

The investigation continues today. There's no word on the motive in the crime.

Martinez was last seen by family members on Thursday. An autopsy is set for later today to give detectives more clues in the investigation.
