Verner Woelk and his wife are happy to be alive today. The couple, who are residents of Selah,  lost their home and all their belongings in a fire that started Sunday night after the lightning storm. A lawn chair is all that remained from the fire, which took six hours to contain.

The fire started after the wind knocked down a power pole, sparking the grass on fire. The quickly moving fire burned along Tibbling road and made its way to their home. Unfortunately, the Woelks didn't have insurance to cover the property. With nothing left for the couple, a relief fund has been set up at Selah Banner Bank to help them.
