The Yakima Athletic Club put on a mini "summer games" to get people excited about fitness.

Participants showed off their strength training skills by lifting weights, doing the long jump and sprinting, all in the name of fun and fitness.

The gym got the idea from the summer Olympics, and hopes the event grows each year.

"I want this to get so big that they cancel the real summer games and come here because this is the event to be at," said Fitness Director, Tanner Dean.

One participant says its not just about the challenge, but also the people.

"You are being here in an environment you love, you love being at the gym, you love the being with people that support you and such, so I think it's just a great place to be," she said

This is the second year the gym has put on the event, and it hopes to continue every summer.

You will be able to watch the Winter Olympics games in February on NBC.
