Work continues on the former mill site property to get it ready for development.

Yakima City Manager Tony O'Rourke says the city will hold a study session at city hall Tuesday to decide on what option to move forward on to help clean up the site which could range from $7-27 million. He says he's looking forward to talking to the council.

It’s important to get the cities input coupled with the department of ecology who’s are principal partner in this to determine what course we should take to clean up the landfill portion of the site.

More than 80 percent of the money will come from the Department of Ecology and future money for more cleanup and site preparation will come from the state.

O'Rourke says these are the first steps in a 10-year process to clean up the site, build infrastructure and welcome development.

Today’s study session starts at 10:00 a.m. at Yakima City Hall.
