Visitors to Sarg Hubbard Park and travelers on Washington Avenue south of Randall Park are advised that a stormwater drainage improvement project is planned this week.

According to a city news release, work will continue between Sept. 30 and Oct. 2 with minimal effects on traffic. The city is asking that drivers in the area pay attention to city workers who might be on the road.

The project on Washington Avenue might periodically restrict eastbound traffic to one lane during the work.

This is in addition to the citywide grind-and-overlay project that continues this week.

From 9 a.m. Sept. 29 through 7 p.m. Oct 1, the intersection of MLK, Jr. Boulevard and North Eighth Street will be closed to all traffic while the intersection is regraded and repaved. Also closed, according to the news release: North Sixth Street between Lincoln Avenue and H Street will be closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 2. And the center lanes of 40th Avenue between River Road and Fruitvale Boulevard will be closed from 7 p.m. Oct. 1 through 6 a.m. Oct. 2.

Overnight closures will occur at the following roads throughout the week:

  • Nob Hill Boulevard between Third Avenue and just west of the Nob Hill overpass
  • MLK, Jr. Boulevard between Eighth Street and Pierce Avenue
  • Lincoln Avenue between First Street and 10th Street
  • Washington Avenue between 15th Avenue and First Street
  • Sixth Street between Lincoln Avenue and Pacific Avenue
  • Mead Avenue between 10th Avenue and Fair Avenue
