Stolen Vehicle Crash Near Stone Church Tuesday

Yakima Police have identified the driver of a vehicle that rolled and crashed on north 34th avenue Tuesday after fleeing police in a stolen vehicle. The driver is identified as 32-year-old Justin Stewart of Yakima. Police spokesman Mike Bastinelli says police tried to stop Stewart but he took off eventually crashing the vehicle near the Stone Church. He was ejected and died at Harborview Medical center in Seattle.

Yakima Police say a driver was injured after he crashed a stolen vehicle near Stone Church on Tuesday evening. Officers tried to stop the vehicle at about 5:10 p.m. last night but the driver fled and crashed the vehicle on North 34th Avenue near Powerhouse Road where the driver was ejected. Police say when the vehicle crashed it rolled about 50 feet. The suspect was taken to a Yakima hospital with serious injuries. He was not identified.
