The family of missing Yakima Dr. Jay Sloop have returned to the valley after spending weeks searching for their father in the Ukraine.

The 77- year -old Sloop was last seen on May 14 after leaving on a morning walk. He was in the Ukraine on a medical mission with the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Church spokesman Jay Wintermyer says Ukranian Police have classified the case as a homicide and are currently searching for clues that will lead to an arrest and the location of Sloop.

Wintermeyer says it is not easy for the family “there is nothing more for the family to do. They have exhausted all leads they could work on so the family members returned to Yakima last week.” Wintermeyer says it is a very difficult time for the family members who have no answers as to what happened to Dr. Jay Sloop.
