• For the past 66 years the city of Granger has been celebrating cherries and they will be celebrating again this weekend.

    The 66th annual Granger Cherry Festival at Granger City Park will take place Saturday and Sunday sponsored by the Granger Lions Club.

    Club member Valdimeer Valenzuela says, “It’s a chance to celebrate the cherry bloom and have fun with friends and neighbors.” He says the festival includes live music, concessions, carnival rides and a bingo tent.

    The Granger Cherry Festival parade starts at 11:00 am and weaves its way through the downtown area.

  • Washington State Patrol Troopers say the accident happened on State Route 241 and Stover Road.

    They say 26-year-old Randy Vasquez failed to notice the cars in front of him were stopped waiting for a school bus because he was texting. Vasquez hit a pick-up truck driven by 22-year-old Danny Perales Jr. who then slammed into another car driven by 23-year-old Mayra Amecula-Alcala.

    All three drivers were transported to Sunnyside Community Hospital with injuries.

    Aside from texting, Vasquez was also not wearing his seat-belt. Charges are pending.

  • Wine tasters will fill the valley and uncork their love for local wines this weekend.The annual spring barrel tasting event is April 25-27.

    Barb Glover with Wine Yakima Valley says nearly every winery in the valley is offering you a chance to taste wine from the barrel. And she says thousands of people from throughout the state will be in the valley.

    We expect strong numbers from the west side of our state. It’s going to be a busy weekend.

    Wineries in the entire region are part of the event Saturday and Sunday from the Tri-Cities to Ellensburg.
