Special DUI emphasis patrols in the state continue through the upcoming Labor Day weekend to help keep you safe as you travel. Mark Madalen with the Washington Traffic Safety Commission says Yakima Police and sheriff's deputies have joined state patrol troopers through September 5 on special DUI emphasis patrols. He says they're trying to shrink the number of people killed on Washington roads. "Last year about 500 people died in Washington crashes and about half involved an impaired driver." The emphasis patrols are part of an ongoing campaign called Target Zero an effort to eliminate traffic deaths in the state by the year 2030.
