Snow Slide Heavy Snow Close White Pass Ski Area

There's a lot of snow falling on our mountain passes Today. In fact so much snow that the White Pass ski area is closing early for the day. Here's a message from the White Pass Facebook page;

Due to several small snow slides, the WSDOT has asked that we close early and allow all skiers & employees to make their way off the mountain. Sometimes there is too much of a good thing and today's that day. Take it slowly and safely and follow the lead of our WSDOT partners on the way down. They'll do a great job taking care of the road and we expect to be back tomorrow.

WSDOT officials don't know when the pass will reopen but they have crews trying to clear the slide area near Wild Cat Creek. Westbound traffic is stopped near Oak Creek and the Eastbound traffic is stopped at the Summit of White Pass .crews are on the scene.
