EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — Six of Snohomish County's school districts top the list for offering the highest teacher salaries in the state.

The Daily Herald of Everett reports that Everett School District pays the most, with a top base salary of $97,445 that will rise to $103,000 for the 2017-18 school year under a new contract signed last fall. Behind it is the Mukilteo School District is next, paying $92,282.

According to the Washington Education Association, close behind are school districts in Snohomish ($91,899), Arlington ($91,372), Edmonds ($90,644) and Marysville ($90,346).

Dozens of other schools in the state pay a top salary for equivalent experience of around $67,000, or $30,000 less.

The Supreme Court has ordered Washington to fully fun public schools and close the teacher pay gap by 2018.
