The White Pass Ski area is set to open Thursday after being closed since Sunday as mountain officials try and preserve the snow pack. White Pass isn't alone The Mount Spokane Ski and Snowboard Park has suspended operations this week because mild temperatures and rain have reduced the snow pack. Crews are trying to move enough snow to reopen runs this weekend at the park northeast of Spokane near the Idaho border. They're also moving snow around on White Pass. At White Pass officials are trying to focus on snow that's fallen on the backside of the mountain where resort officials say all runs are open. The last time both White Pass and Mount Spokane struggled with a snow-challenged season of this magnitude was about 10 years ago.
