It is only a table top exercise but local authorities say it is vitally important to prepare for an emergency. It is planned at Zillah Middle School today. Local authorities and officials from the Yakima County Office of Emergency Management will be conducting the exercise to practice procedures to deal with a violent intruder. Emergency Management director Jim Hall says “we are in the business of preparing for things that we hope will never happen.” The simulated exercise will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. today in the middle school library. A full scale exercise at the high school which will include actors playing roles is planned for June.
