Sidney Rice Signs One-Year Deal With Seattle

After only being away from the team for less than two months, wide receiver Sidney Rice just couldn’t stay away from Seattle.

After being cut on Feb. 28, Sidney Rice agreed today to a one-year deal that is reportedly worth more than the veteran minimum.

Rice, who would’ve earned $8.5 million this year,  was released to create cap flexibility for next year in hopes of resigning safety Earl Thomas, cornerback Richard Sherman and quarterback Russell Wilson.

It has been a busy week for Rice, who was cleared to return to football activities on Monday. After meeting with the New York Jets earlier today, Rice announced his decision to sign with Seattle via Twitter.

Rice only played in eight games last season, totaling 231 yards and three touchdowns before injuring his ACL against St. Louis.

Rice’s signing gives Seattle a little more depth at wide receiver, who lost receiver Golden Tate to Detroit in free agency.
