PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Ever see one of those TV shows where a person visiting a shady character behind bars is asked if he's wearing a wire? In Maine, a sheriff is apologizing for his deputies asking whether two female lawyers were wearing an underwire — as in an underwire bra. Cumberland County Sheriff Kevin Joyce says the lawyers were asked to remove their underwire bras at jail if they wanted to talk to their incarcerated clients. The lawyers were told the wires might trip the metal detector at the facility. The female attorneys refused to comply with the request to go bra-less — and left.
