The Yakima City Council held a study session Tuesday to hear about the progress on the former mill site along I-82.  Project managers unveiled several options for a new exit off I-82 as well as the new streets that would run through the site.

Council members debated a number of issues, including how they should zone the site, and whether they should partner with developers to create the streets.  "Before it tended to be more of a dream, a vision, now we are getting into realities, creating the milestones on this map to get this site from a former landfill," said Yakima City Manager Tony O'Rourke.

Right now, the council is waiting on the results of an environmental review of the landfill on the site and how much the area will cost to clean up.  The city expects to have that report finished by September.
