A Selah man accused of killing his girlfriend's 23-month-old daughter pleaded guilty to manslaughter Monday.
With the plea in Yakima, David Andrew Holbrook avoided a murder trial.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports the 24-year-old could face more than eight years in prison when he is sentenced next Monday.

In his plea, Holbrook admitted he recklessly caused the death of Sadie Rivera in May 2013. The coroner's office says she died of severe chest trauma.

Holbrook told police she stopped breathing after he tossed her too high in the air and she hit the ceiling.
