Selah Man Arrested After Attempted Rape

A 24-year-old man from Selah was arrested Monday after an attempted rape and kidnapping at a home in Terrace Heights.

The incident was reported at about 10:00 a.m. Monday when Yakima County Sheriff's Deputies say the suspect entered a home in the 4000 block of Charlene Way. Deputies say the man used a taser to subdue the woman inside the home. He then tried to tie her up and rape her but deputies say she ran out of the home and her neighbors tackled the suspect.

One of the neighbors was tasered by the suspect but was still able to hold the 24-year-old until Yakima County Sheriff's Deputies arrived.

The man is being held in the Yakima County Jail. The woman was treated and released from a Yakima hospital.

Deputies say the man knew the woman from her place of work.
