If your commute takes you along Fair Avenue you'll want to know a section of Fair Avenue will be closed to all traffic 24-hours-a-day for the next two to three weeks starting Tuesday, October 10th, while work related to the installation of a sewer main interceptor is underway.

Fair Avenue will be closed at Beech Street for the next phase of the sewer project. Sewer main interceptors receive wastewater from multiple main sewer lines and convey it to a treatment plant. Sewer main interceptors are the largest diameter lines in the sewer system and the furthest downstream in the system. Scout Lake Construction, a Selah-based contracting firm, began work in September on the first phase of the project on a section of Beech Street.

Traffic delays in the area are likely to occur during the project.  Drivers should use alternate routes until the project is completed.  Detours around the work at the intersection of Beech Street and Fair Avenue will be posted at South 10th Street and East Maple Street.
