Second Suspect Arrested In Starving Girls Case
Yakima Police have arrested a second person in connection with the abused and starved 8-year-old twin girls found in a Yakima duplex earlier this month.
The man arrested on a first degree mistreatment charge is described as the 41-year-old boyfriend of the girls' mother. He's being held in the Yakima County jail, where bail is set at $50,000.
The mother, 28-year-old Kai Martinez is also being held in the Yakima County jail on charges of child assault and first degree mistreatment.
An aunt reported the girls who were found in a duplex on North Ninth Street on Feb. 6. The girls were treated at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and are now staying with other family members.
