Buying groceries in Seattle? You'll either have to bring your own reusable bag or pay five cents for each paper bag because Seattle officials just voted unanimously to ban plastic bags in Seattle. Could Yakima be the next city in the Pacific Northwest to ban plastic bags?

On the positive side, not only would it save grocery stores money from buying plastic bags but it would save us money on groceries. As it is now one may just keep shopping for groceries whether they need them or not. If you were more conscious on items that you could carry back in the reusable bag or dealing with cumbersome paper bags.

On the other hand, plastic bags are convenient. Several people recycle them as lining for waste paper baskets. If plastic bags were banned in Yakima there may be job loss in the plastic bag industry if they were eliminated completely.
