SEATTLE (AP) — King County search and rescue teams have found two hikers who were stranded west of Snoqualmie Pass.

KING-TV reports a woman and man called around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday saying they were stuck in about six feet of snow near Denny Creek off Interstate 90.

They had hiked about 1.5 miles from the main road and were reportedly cold, wet and feeling hypothermic.

Rescue teams found the hikers Tuesday afternoon and brought them back to the parking lot, county officials tweeted.

The King County Sheriff's Office tweeted that the hikers were properly equipped and prepared minus snow shoes and checking the weather report. "Happy ending," officials tweeted.

Authorities say people should refrain from back-country hiking in the area as winter weather conditions are making rescues difficult.
