SEATTLE (AP) — The King County Sheriff's Office says teams have halted their search for a skier missing in the backcountry near Snoqualmie Pass.

About 30 people spent Sunday looking for 43-year-old Monty Busbee of Maple Valley. He failed to return home Saturday night after planning to spend the day in the Commonwealth Basin and Kendall Tree area.

His wife called police at 7:45 p.m. Saturday when he didn't come home. Ski Patrol Avalanche Rescue Team member searched for him late into the night amid heavy snowfall and dangerous conditions.

Officials said the search would resume Monday if avalanche conditions allow.

Busbee was known to carry supplies and an avalanche beacon. Police said are asking for anyone that may have seen Busbee or talked to him Saturday to call 911.
