The Seahawks open up the season on the road this Sunday at Arizona. The broadcast will start at 11AM here on your Seahawks station, Newstalk KIT.

The Arizona Cardinals finished 8-8 last year, a game ahead of the Seahawks in the NFC West. The two teams split their home and home series, with the Seahawks winning in Seattle, and the Cardinals winning in Glendale.

The Cardinals have a stout defense, and offensive star power in Pro Bowl wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. Their big question is at quarterback.

The Seahawks attracted a lot of attention this year with their three way quarterback competition between free incumbent Tavaris Jackson, free agent Matt Flynn, and rookie third round draft pick Russell Wilson. Wilson won the starting job in training camp, with Flynn the back up and Jackson traded to Buffalo. Flynn played well enough in the spring and summer to be the starter, but Wilson was better.

The Cardinals shelled out big free agent bucks last year to acquire Kevin Kolb from the Eagles, a move that didn't pay off last season. This year, Kolb lost the starting job to John Skelton.

“We put a lot of time and effort in making the decision, and we feel like it’s the right decision.” – Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt on going with Skelton – who was 5-2 as the starter last season – over Kolb.

The Seahawks are ranked #20 in the cbssportsline.com power rankings this week. The Cardinals are ranked  #19.
