Seahawks’ Heath Farwell Facing Surgery
Seattle’s backup linebacker and special teams captain suffered a groin injury against the Bears that coach Pete Carroll addressed in an interview with a Sattle station.
The Seahawks took to Twitter Monday to make the announcement.
Carroll said LB Heath Farwell suffered “extensive damage” to his groin and will require surgery.

No other details about the injury, or what it would mean for Farwell, a 10-year NFL veteran who played in Minnesota before signing with Seattle in 2011. A special teams stand out, the linebacker had 11 tackles and a sack in the 2014 pre season. Farwell’s injury could finalize a roster spot for rookie Brock Coyle from Montana, who started all three pre season games for regular middle linebacker Bobby Wagner, who has been out with a hamstring injury. Coyle has also been playing special teams, totaling 17 tackles in 2014.
