The Seahawks also announced a roster move Friday.

The Seattle Seahawks have named Travis Jones defensive line coach and Nick Sorensen coaching assistant/special teams coach, with Dave Canales now assuming the role of assistant quarterbacks/offensive quality control coach, Nate Carroll offensive assistant and Marquand Manuel defensive assistant, the team announced earlier this week.

Jones spent the last five seasons with the New Orleans Saints as assistant defensive line coach and entered the NFL coaching ranks with the Miami Dolphins from 2005-07, where he was on the same defensive staff as current Seahawks defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn.

“Travis is an outstanding coach,” said Quinn. “He’s got energy out on the practice field and is a good teacher. I’ve always thought he did an excellent job in preparing his guys. We are fortunate to have him here and I couldn’t be more thrilled knowing he’s a guy who sees it exactly like I do.”

Sorensen spent 10 years in the NFL between St. Louis (2001-02), Jacksonville (2003-06) and Cleveland (2007-10) as a safety. He saw action in 131 games primarily on special teams, collecting 133 special teams tackles, along with 27 tackles on defense (18 solo) and 0.5 sacks.

The Seahawks also announced the signing of cornerback and kick returner Will Blackmon.

Blackmon was originally drafted in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL Draft (115th pick overall) by the Green Bay Packers. He spent 2006-09 with Green Bay, and was released during the 2010 training camp. Blackmon then signed with the New York Giants on October 28, 2010, but was released following the season after landing on injured reserve with a knee injury. On November 23, 2011, the Giants again signed Blackmon, where he spent the remainder of the season, including earning a Super Bowl ring in the Giants victory over New England in Super Bowl XLVI.

In 43 games played in the NFL, Blackmon has amassed 49 tackles (42 solo), in addition to 67 punt returns for 634 yards (9.5 avg.) with three returned for touchdowns and 81 kick returns for 1,674 yards (20.7 avg.).

Blackmon spent 2012 with the Arizona Wranglers in the Arena Football League.
