Just look at the lines at the drive-thru coffee shops. So many of us use caffeine to kick start each day. The research into the positive and negative medical effects of caffeine have been studied for years but there is some new information that might ease your mind about that second cup.

The Journal of the American Heart Association, suggests that the claim that caffeine may cause heart palpitations that can lead to heart failure is untrue.
Scientists searched and found no link between caffeine consumption and heart palpitations, heart fluttering, or other irregular heartbeat patterns, even among those who consume a lot of caffeine each day.

So once again we have science reversing earlier recommendations. I appreciate ongoing study as much as the next white lab coat wearing wonder sleuth but we seem to get so much wrong the first time - or is it wrong the second time? That’s the problem with the periodic 180 degree changes. Which is it?? In this case the study author from U-C San Fran says, "Clinical recommendations advising against the regular consumption of caffeinated products to prevent disturbances of the heart's cardiac rhythm should be reconsidered, as we may unnecessarily be discouraging consumption of items like chocolate, coffee and tea that might actually have cardiovascular benefits." Changing the prohibition on regular chocolate consumption? Hey, that makes it settled science for me!
