Recent school shooting tragedies in Connecticut and California have not only captured national attention, but have also spurred action by President Obama and the state of New York to tighten regulations on assault style weapons, high capacity magazines and strengthen background checks.

The question is: How to make schools more safe and secure? Arming teachers? Armed guards? Police in school buildings? A military presence?

Randy Town, security officer for Educational Service District 105, and Lieutenant Brian Winter of the Yakima Sheriff's Office were guests on Thursday's Mike Bastinelli show. They discussed methods for school safety like building design, resource officers and more.
