Many people purchased their first cassettes and vinyl records at Yakima's Off The Record store. But owner Rich Koch says he's closing the store at the end of the month or early next month. Koch says business is good, but he just turned 70 and it's time to retire. He says when the store opened it was strictly vinyl and cassettes and he was just starting to sell CDs.

"We started with like 50 compact discs. It was 1985, so it was just the beginning of the compact disc. So in my 29 years I saw the beginning to the end." The store, at 901 Summitview Ave., is for sale, so there's a possibility it could stay open.
Koch says the store is closing just as vinyl records are making a big comeback.
