Saturday Morning Fire Looks Suspicious

KIT

The Yakima Fire Department was busy overnight, responding to a blaze in a detached garage in the 500 block of Fifth Avenue.

The call came in at about 4 a.m. Saturday, when smoke was billowing out of a garage. Firefighters found 50 percent of the structure involved, but they quickly gained control of the fire.

A person was living on the upper floor of the garage, but there was no indication that the resident were at the home during the fire.

Officials offered no cause for the blaze, but they did call it suspicious.

Damage is estimated at $35,000.
